Hello October!

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,                                                                                                                       October 1, 2015

Happy October!!! Thank-you for a smooth start to a terrific school year! On Thursday, October 8, we will have a School Advisory Council Meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m., in the cafeteria at DeSoto Early Childhood Center. Our Boosters meeting will follow at 6:00 p.m. I would encourage you to consider joining our SAC/Boosters committees.

Parents are always welcome on campus! We encourage you to volunteer whenever you can. A volunteer application can be found on the District Website. Completing this form as soon as possible is recommended as getting approval can take up to Thirty (30) days.

 Reminders:

When you are on campus please go to the office to check in before coming to the classroom. This is district policy and for the safety of your children. New Horizons parents may go directly to the classroom when you are coming to pick up your child at 12:00 noon or 2:00 p.m. or between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. If you arrive early (prior to the first two pick-up times) for pick-up you must check in at the office. If you are in a secure area without a sticker you will be asked to go to the office to check in prior to signing your child out for the day.

There will be school, Friday, October 9. This is our make-up day for August 31, due to weather conditions.

First quarter progress reports will go home with students on Friday, October 16. The awards celebration for students at New Horizons will be Thursday, October 22, at 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria at Nocatee Elementary School.

Thursday, October 22, is picture day for the students at DECC and Friday, October 23, for students at New Horizons. Additional information will be sent home with students.

Wednesday, October 28, is an early release day for all students. School will dismiss at 12:00 Noon. This is a professional development day for teachers.

Fall Festival activities will kick-off the week of October 26. As the date nears, teachers will send home more information.

 Best Regards,

Phyllis Clemons, Principal
