May Monthly Letter

May 2, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Can you believe the school year is quickly drawing to a close? Please keep your eyes peeled and check your child’s backpack each day. Teachers will be sending information home regarding the end of the year activities in the coming weeks.

I must say that April was a very busy, but productive month for us! The Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success, thanks to our volunteers. Thank you so much for a job well done. Because of your help we were able to surpass our sales figure from last year. Our pre-kindergarten students had a wonderful time during the elementary school visits. They toured the campus and enjoyed various activities. Finally, our pre-kindergarten students attended a play at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in North Port. They saw the production, Junie B. Jones. A fun time was had by all.

Looking forward, we have planned some fun activities for our students in May as well. All parents of pre-kindergarten students are invited to a Make and Take activity on May 11, at New Horizons in the Nocatee Elementary School cafeteria beginning at 9:00 am.

The week of May 2-6, is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! We will celebrate our teachers and staff for all of their dedication and service to students. Please remember to thank your child’s teachers when you visit the classrooms that week.

On Tuesday, May 3, is our Pre-K to Kindergarten Meeting. All parents of incoming kindergarten students are required to attend this meeting. Information regarding the transition to kindergarten will be shared.

On Friday, May 20, we will have the VPK Graduation Ceremony at New Horizons at Nocatee Elementary School cafeteria. More information and reminders will be sent home with your child.

Please note that May 24 and 25, are early release days. All students must be picked up by 12:00 noon on each of those days. May 25, is the last day of school for students.

Be safe and have a wonderful summer!
