April Principal Letter

April 3, 2017

Dear Students, Parents & Staff,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable spring break and an easy transition back into the school routine.  As the school year concludes, we have plenty still left to do!

The Scholastic Book Fair is here! You may purchase books at New Horizons and DeSoto Early Childhood Center. If you are available to work the book fair, please contact your child’s teacher. Last year t
he total book sales were $1,155.25. Our goal for this year is to increase that amount. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s book fair.

The next Boosters meeting will be Thursday, April 13, at 5:00, in the DECC cafeteria. Please join us!

April 22, is Earth Day.  Our classes will be participating in Earth Day activities.  At an early age students should become aware of the necessity for all of us to protect and preserve the earth and her resources.  Ask your child for ways you can help at home.

Administrative Appreciation Day is April 26, 2017! We appreciate our office staff, and all that they do each day to keep our schools running smoothly.

New Horizons students will travel to Octagon Wildlife Center in Punta Gorda on April 7, 2017. You should have already received information about departure and return times. Please ask your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Remember that April 14th, is Good Friday, there will be no school for students on this day.

Mark your calendar! In preparing for our VPK students to enter kindergarten in the fall! We will have a required parent meeting on April 20th, at DeSoto Early Childhood Center in the cafeteria at 5:00 pm. Staff will share valuable information regarding the transition to kindergarten.
