Principal's Letter for May

May 1, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Can you believe the school year is quickly drawing to a close? Please keep your eyes peeled and check your child’s backpack each day. Teachers will be sending information home regarding the end of the year activities in the coming weeks.

I must say that April was a very busy, but productive month for us! The Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success, thanks to our volunteers. Because of your help we were able to surpass our sales figure from last year. Our pre-kindergarten students had a wonderful time during the elementary school visits to Nocatee Elementary and Memorial Elementary. They toured the campuses and enjoyed various activities. The visit to West Elementary will be on May 15. On April 20, we had our annual Pre-Kindergarten Transition Meeting. Thank you all for coming out to learn about all of the new and exciting things your child will be learning about next year. Finally, our pre-kindergarten students attended Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary in Punta Gorda. They visited and learned about a variety of animals. A fun time was had by all.

Looking forward, we have planned some fun activities for our students in May as well. All parents of pre-kindergarten students are invited to a Make and Take activity on May 4, at New Horizons in the Nocatee Elementary School cafeteria beginning at 9:00 am.

The week of May 1-5, is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! We will celebrate our teachers and staff for all of their dedication and service to students. Please remember to thank your child’s teachers when you visit the classrooms that week.

Kindergarten Round-up is Thursday, May 11 at each elementary school from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

On Friday, May 26, we will have the VPK Graduation Ceremony at New Horizons at Nocatee Elementary School cafeteria. More information and reminders will be sent home with your child.

Please note that May 25 and 26, are early release days. All students must be picked up by 12:00 noon on each of those days. May 26, is the last day of school for students.

Be safe and have a wonderful summer!
