Principal's Message for October

November 1, 2017

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,

It is hard to believe the holiday season is upon us!

Our fall celebration was loads of fun! It was great to see our students and their parents enjoying the festivities. A special thank-you to DeSoto Middle School Honor Society! They helped make our celebration special. We look forward to seeing them on their next visit! For a recap of the fun activities and creative costumes, please go to our school website and Facebook page.

Because of the arrival of Hurricane Irma, we had our first Boosters meeting of the year in October. November 14, we will hold our next meeting at DECC at 5:00 pm. If you are willing to help with fundraising efforts this year, please feel free to attend this meeting. We will elect new officers for the 2017-2018 school year. We hope to see you there!

We are still looking for interested parents to join our SAC Committee. Please see your child’s teacher for information. This is a great opportunity for you to have input and help guide the direction of our schools in the upcoming years. The more participation, the greater the success for our students.

As we look forward please note the following important dates.

November 3 – Krispy Kreme Donuts sales money is due

November 5 – Daylight Savings Time ends, remember to set your clocks back!

November 13 - Veteran’s Day Parade (Downtown Arcadia, Oak Street 10:00am); New Horizons to Jim Space after the parade

November 20-24 Thanksgiving Holiday Break

The month of November always marks the time to be thankful. In keeping with that tradition, my staff and I are truly grateful for the opportunity to work with your children and all the families that are a part of DECC and New Horizons. We are fortunate to have your support and partnership.
