Welcome to a New School Year!

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to DeSoto Early Childhood Center and New Horizons! It is an honor and privilege to be a part of such a caring and devoted staff. My mission is to collaborate with teachers and staff to provide your child with a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. In doing that, your help and input is highly valued and expected. The school/home connection is of great value as it has been proven that students whose parents are involved in the educational process are more likely to experience success in school. Please feel free to contact me for any need that may arise during the school year.

On a personal note, I was born and raised in Arcadia, Florida and attended Smith Brown Elementary and West Elementary as a child. I graduated from DeSoto County High School and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters of Educational Leadership from The University of South Florida. My career with The School District of DeSoto County began at DeSoto Early Childhood Center where I was a Paraprofessional in the Bear Classroom. I have taught second and third grade at West Elementary and Neil Armstrong Elementary in Charlotte County.

I am married to Harold and we have a daughter, Nitia. In my spare time I enjoy reading, learning new things and playing with my grandson, Ethan.

I look forward to working with each and every one of you this year.

Sincerely,

Phyllis M. Clemons
